We are looking for an experienced and driven Engineering Shift Manager to lead our engineering function during shift operations within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of production and packing equipment while supporting operational excellence across the site.
As Engineering Shift Manager, you will lead a team of engineers, drive a proactive maintenance culture, minimise downtime, and deliver continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, safety, and asset performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the shift engineering team to maximise equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure rapid and effective response to equipment breakdowns, minimising production disruption.
- Manage and deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities to a high standard.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on equipment failures and implement robust corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with Production and Technical teams to improve plant performance and reliability.
- Support the successful delivery and commissioning of engineering improvement and CAPEX projects.
- Deliver key engineering KPIs including downtime reduction, PPM completion, and response times.
What We're Looking For
- Time-served or recognised qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Previous experience in an Engineering Management or Engineering Team Leader role within Food Manufacturing or FMCG.
- Strong understanding of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- Experience in fault finding across mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
- Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER, and Health & Safety legislation.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience using Root Cause Analysis techniques.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
